Mark Fraser: Day Two Hundred and Eighty Six – Taking Out the Rubbish

Taking the rubbish out both metaphorically and figuratively with this one.

Out With The Old

Poetry is the mirror image
of consciousness reflected outwardly
internal monologue incarnate
an infernal monologue
which reads like the chasing of a dream
down dark backstreets
into the shady alleys
dragging some kind of meaning into the daylight
there is nothing to establish here
except that perhaps every line reveals existential fear
each verse is a shattered moment
the result of the sharp dagger of time
laying waste to the writer’s image
cut up and spun out as letters, words and (occasionally) rhyme

It’s kind of like taking out the bins
